Jim & Carol's New Jayco Popup Camper

On a beautiful sunny afternoon in September of 2006 Carol and I took a drive to Elma, NY and she wanted to stop at Buffalo RV and look at campers. She always like going camping as much as I did. I haven't done it for a few years after our families trailer burned at our camp. She wanted to do it again if I would want to. I agreed and we looked at all the campers here at Buffalo RV and we went in and a salesman named Bob McKeon came out and assisted us in the big hunt. We came across a 2005 Jayco 1207 Popup Camper that we checked out and we both really liked it. He gave us the grand tour of this camper and we got inside of it and it was just like brand new. I mention to her that we have 8 months to look at different models and brands and within an hour we owned this camper. I couldn't believe that on our first day out we found one that we both liked. She filled out the credit application and within 10 minutes it had been aproved. Thi Vice President of the company was here today from there other store in Albany,NY and told us that if we wanted to keep it here for the winter months till April it would be fine with him and so, we did. We will pick it up in April 2007.

Finding Places To Camp

We have started checking out different campgrounds around the state. Found more than I expected and so, I joined the Good Sam Club for discounts and a list of 10,000 campgrounds that except Good Sam Club cardmembers. Also AAA has some places that offer discounts for a weekend of camping. The New York State Park Service offers a lot of different sites in the parks close to home and far away. We go to Lake George every September for the Adirondack Balloon Festival which is a 5 day event for us. I will be checking out the Battleground Campsite in Lake George which is a New York State Park and I can reserve a spot at anytime after January 01, 2007. We will be getting married this next September so, This will be our honeymoon for a week or so in Lake George Camping.

Interior Is Magnificant

I don't believe that we could find a camper that has the cleaniness and excellent condition as this one does. I looked for three hours trying to find a defect but, couldn't. I was really impressed with the interior with no rips, tears, or stains anywhere. Its beautiful.

Can't Wait For April To Come

Our first weekend out will probably be close to home maybe like our family campsite which is about 10 miles from home. My Mom & Dad purchased 3 acres of land back in a wooded area and my dad back in 1968 purchased a 35' X 8' old office trailer from the construction company that he worked for. From then on we spent every weekend rain or shine at the camp. There is a stream about 100' from the trailer that the kids loved wading in. It was only about 12 " deep and there was 8 of us altogether and we had a great time sitting up till midnight by a roaring campfire and cooked 3 meals a day using wood for fuel. We had lots of wood especielly after the 1972 ice storm that took down a lot of trees. We still have the property and gone through 2 different trailers and now a new camper to use. My mom will probably even come up and stay. She misses going up there a lot.

2007 Will Be A Busy Year For Camping

I have taken a few pictures already of our camper. Carol stands beside the camper as we both get ready to check out the inside again. I have to have a trailer hitch and brake control sensor installed on my new dodge before I can pull the camper. This will be done sometime in early April and will be given a lesson or 2 on how it operates as far as lowering and raising the camper. My worst fear is parking and backing up, I hope it works out OK.

CAMPER WILL BE IN SERVICE ON APRIL 14, 2007
